Phillip's bio
Phillip Sandifer has nine recordings as a solo artist to his credit and has performed in 49 of our 50 states (hey, if you're from Alaska invite him to come to your town- that's the only state he hasn't played in) in twenty six years of traveling. Over the years he's performed or recorded with Twila Paris, Clay Crosse, Jennifer Warnes, Michelle Wagner, 4 Him, Kim Hill, Cheri Keaggy, The Imperials, Whiteheart, Steven Curtis Chapman, Mylon Lefevre & Broken Heart, Bob Bennett, Billy Crockett, Rob Frazier, Dawn Smith Jordan and many others. Additionally, Phillip has led worship at conferences or ministered through music alongside Billy Graham, Dr. Bill Bright, Chuck Swindoll, Josh McDowell, Dick Purnell, Chip Ingram and other noted speakers and teachers.
Despite his lack of pretense, Sandifer is a respected writer and producer in the music industry. Songs he has written have been recorded by Glen Campbell, Fernando Ortega, Bob Bennett, Rob Frazier, Dawn Smith Jordan and others. He has also produced or executive produced numerous recorded products and has helped to develop a number of other successful artists. Increasingly his most enjoyable professional involvement takes place with aspiring and developing artists seeking experienced music and / or management guidance.
In college Phillip recognized the potential for seeing music speak
truth to people, and what began as a hobby, with his performing
around campus, turned into a career direction. Phillip cut a
record, "Never Steal the Show" (1981), and then signed with
Urgent Records, recording "On My Way" (1984), "Keeping The
Dream Alive" (1987) which produced two Christian music classics
"When It's All Been Said And
Done" and
"Just Because You Are", "Constant"
(1989) and "The Other Side Of Salvation (1993)
followed which yielded four chart-topping #1
singles-"The
Less Traveled Road",
"From A Broken Heart" , "Man Of Compassion"
and
"Learning To Love You"
as well as the #2 single
"What You Mean To Me".
"Arizona Highway" (1997) produced 2 top ten singles-"Others"
and
"Arizona Highway".
His
brother Michael and he perform from time to time as the duo "Santa
Fe". Their initial recording "Moon Circles" (1998)
yielded two top 10 singles -
"Wider Sky" and
"Love Speaks Louder". His most recent
solo project, "Sensible Enigmas" (2001) has become a concert
favorite due to touching songs such as
"Angela's Prayer",
"Do You Like To Color" and
"Every Heart Needs A Harbor".
Recently Phillip was a guest lead vocalist singing the classic
"House At Pooh Corner" on a Disney lullabies project. On a
previous Grammy Award nominated Disney project "A Bug's Life",
Phillip was a guest lead vocalist. With his new project
"Prone To Calamity" (Summer 2008), Sandifer explores some of the
more interesting aspects of our "sameness" as humans
(sample). Phillip
will also release his first worship project "Expression, Volume
I" in the summer of 2008.
Phillip's concerts range in size from intimate group settings of 100
people or so to larger promoted events. Phillip says, "my
concerts are a mix of story songs and worship songs....we banter
back and forth about life and we try to put things in perspective by
worshipping God, who allows us to rise above it all and walk in
peace and with purpose". Regarding his production and management
work Phillip says, "developing creative artists who engage believers and provoke the contemplation of God by
the non-believer is the best job on earth".
